M-BUS SPLITTER is a dedicated M-Bus line splitting module designed to provide simultaneous access for two independent M-Bus masters to the same meters. The device is intended for applications where one or more M-Bus meters must be read independently by two different supervisory systems.

Operating principle

M-BUS SPLITTER is installed between the connected M-Bus meters and two independent M-Bus masters. Each master can perform independent readout operations without interfering with the other system. The splitter supports up to four M-Bus meters, which must be configured with unique primary addresses in the range from 1 to 250.

Power supply and communication

M-BUS SPLITTER can be powered directly from the M-Bus line via the OUT2 output. In installations with multiple meters or where the available M-Bus voltage is insufficient, an external power supply of 24–35 VAC or 30–40 VDC can be used. Device status and communication activity are indicated by integrated LED indicators.

Configuration

Configuration of the operating parameters is performed using onboard configuration jumpers. These allow setting the M-Bus baud rate, scan interval and operating mode. After any configuration change, the device automatically initiates a scan of the connected M-Bus meters.

Typical applications

M-BUS SPLITTER is used in building metering systems, district heating substations and industrial installations where parallel access to meter data is required. Typical use cases include simultaneous data acquisition by a billing system and a building management system (BMS).
