External LTE router - what is it?
An external LTE router is a device that allows devices to connect to the Internet via a modem in LTE technology, the so-called 4G network. An industrial LTE router is characterised by resistance to shock, vibration and high and low temperatures. The industrial router should also support VPN technology, allowing additional security for communication with connected devices.
External LTE router - interfaces and extras
The industrial LTE router must have communication interfaces to connect peripheral devices, these will be: Ethernet, RS232, RS485, USB and additional digital or analogue input and output resources.
In addition, the external LTE router can have a built-in GPS modem, allowing the exact location of the device to be indicated. The industrial LTE router is also characterised by the possibility of installing one or two SIM cards, which allow for Internet connection redundancy in either passive-active (the backup connection is activated when a SIM1 failure is detected) or active-active (both connections are active simultaneously) options.
