In this section of our shop you will find RS-232 signal separators (opto-isolators) and repeaters. RS-232 separators are used to protect devices against voltage spikes and electrical discharges. Repeaters RS-232 are used to enhance the signal strength on the RS-232 bus and at the same time extend the communication distance (bus length).

The offered RS-232 separators feature male-female RS-232 ports on DB9 connector (TxD, RxD, CTS, RTS, GND), isolation up to 5000V, 600W surge protection, ESD protection up to 15kV, power supply from the port or in the range 10-30VDC, optional DIN rail mounting and industrial, extended operating temperature range from as low as -25°C to 75°C. RS-232 separators are used where two electrical circuits may have different potentials, posing a risk of shock or damage to components in that system. The separators prevent unwanted current flow between such units, protect against voltage spikes and electrical discharges (e.g. in harsh weather conditions).

Because of the limitations of the RS-232 interface in terms of cable distance, we offer RS-232 repeaters used to extend the length of the RS-232 bus between devices. RS-232 repeaters operate in pairs and allow the bus between devices to be extended up to 2km while providing 2500V isolation for both devices.
Repeaters RS-232 repeaters are plug-and-play devices, requiring no additional external power supply or configuration, automatically detecting the signal and baud rate. Repeaters are suitable for use in outdoor conditions exposed to low frost or with components generating high heat, the operating temperature range is -10°C to 60°C.
