HD67931-B2-169MHz-160 – Industrial MBus Wireless to MQTT converter, master MBus up to 160 slaves and up to 32 MBus Wireless slaves, housing type B (wide), DIN rail mount.
The HD67931-B2-169MHz-160 is an industrial gateway engineered to bridge M-Bus metering systems with MQTT platforms in large, mission-critical deployments. It supports up to 160 wired M-Bus slaves and up to 32 wireless M-Bus devices operating at 169 MHz. The 169 MHz band is well suited for long-range communication and challenging indoor environments due to favorable propagation characteristics. Data can be published to MQTT brokers for analytics, dashboards and billing workflows. Built-in support for TLS/SSL enables encrypted sessions to protect sensitive consumption data. Electrical isolation between Ethernet and M-Bus enhances resilience against ground loops and interference. The type-B DIN-rail housing simplifies panel installation next to PLCs, meters and power supplies. With an extended operating range of -40 °C to +85 °C, the device is ready for harsh conditions.
The gateway integrates easily with meters from vendors such as Siemens, Kamstrup, Maddalena and Sontex. Collected readings are mapped to MQTT topics, enabling real-time supervision in BMS, SCADA and cloud IoT systems. Installers can tailor the payload selection, update firmware and adjust communication parameters using the free SW67931 configuration utility. The 18…35 V DC input accommodates standard control-cabinet supplies and UPS systems. A short 30 W inrush at start-up should be considered when sizing the power rail. The RJ45 interface supports 10/100 Base-T with autosensing for quick network attachment. The wired M-Bus port is exposed on a 2-way 5 mm terminal block for robust field wiring. The wireless interface uses a SMA Female antenna connector optimized for the 169 MHz band.
For scalable projects, use a clear MQTT topic hierarchy such as site/building/floor/meter/parameter. Choose QoS levels to balance delivery guarantees against bandwidth and latency constraints. Group publication intervals to avoid broker overload and to align with billing or dashboard refresh cycles. Apply VLANs or network segmentation to separate OT metering traffic from corporate IT networks. Verify antenna placement to maximize 169 MHz coverage and mitigate interference from nearby RF sources. Leverage the device’s electrical isolation to reduce noise coupling across domains. Document meter IDs and M-Bus primary/secondary addressing to streamline maintenance. Keep firmware current via SW67931 to benefit from security and stability improvements.
HD67931-B2-169MHz-160 allows to publish the data read from MBus meters into a MQTT Server. These gateways allow a fast and easy access to the IoT world and they are compatible with IoT Servers that support MQTT protocol. The MQTT communication can be encrypted using TLS / SSL protocols, ensuring a secure communication.
They allow to monitor MBus meters (like SIEMENS, Kamstrup, Maddalena, Sontex, etc.). Converter is easy to configure thanks to free SW67931 software.
Applications:
- Smart metering – consolidated readings from 160 wired + 32 wireless devices into a single MQTT infrastructure.
- Utility monitoring – water, gas, electricity and heat consumption tracking with secure publishing.
- Building automation – integration with BMS/SCADA for alarms, dashboards and reports.
- Energy management – portfolio-level analytics, benchmarking and tenant billing.
