MR004C – industrial M-Bus master for up to 60 meters.

MR004C is an industrial M-Bus master (level converter) designed for remote powering and remote reading of up to 60 M-Bus devices, including water meters, heat meters, electricity meters, gas meters, pulse counters as well as analog and digital input modules. The device acts as a central communication point between the M-Bus network and a higher-level system such as a PC, controller, BMS or SCADA system.

Applications in metering systems

MR004C is used in remote metering and energy monitoring systems for commercial, industrial and infrastructure facilities. It enables centralized reading of consumption data for water, heat, gas and electricity, supporting energy management, billing and efficiency analysis. Thanks to multiple communication interfaces, the device can be integrated into both local and distributed installations.

Communication interfaces

The MR004C master is equipped with RS232, RS485 and a ZVEI-compliant optical interface. RS232 allows direct communication with a control computer, RS485 supports longer distances between the master and the supervisory system, while the optical interface enables convenient on-site readout using portable service tools without the need for a permanently connected PC.

Reliability and operational safety

The device is permanently short-circuit resistant on the M-Bus line and features overcurrent protection. Operating states are indicated by LED indicators showing power supply status, slave communication, maximum bus current and short-circuit conditions.
