Industrial RS-232 to RS-485 converters
In this section of our shop you will find converters for RS-232 to RS-485 electrical standards. Both standards are used in industrial automation and control applications such as computers, controllers, IO modules, measuring instruments, counters and many others. RS232 to RS485 converters are used to change the communication interface from RS-232, which has very limited possibilities in terms of bus length, to RS-485 which allows devices to be connected serially over distances of up to 1200m.

The devices are designed with RS-232 ports on DB9 connectors or screw connector and RS-485 on screw connector only. The converters are mostly plug-and-play devices, depending on the model they have a power supply from the RS-232 port or an external 10-35VDC or 12VAC battery supply and operating temperatures from -40°C to 75°, allowing the devices to be installed both in the cold and around machines that generate a lot of heat. The industrial specification of the devices guarantees long, trouble-free operation, as confirmed by up to a 5-year warranty.
Selected converters have opto-isolation up to 3000V, surge protection, automatic detection of the interface, speed and direction of data transmission.
The tM-752x and I-752x series from ICPDAS are unique in their configurability. The converters have an addressing feature that allows the use of a 1Kb buffer that can hold data in a queue until the device can read it from RS-232.
