Industrial switch - what is it?
The Industrial Switch is an Ethernet switch designed to operate in harsh environments. An outdoor switch can perfectly cope with vibrations, impacts, electromagnetic discharges or extremely high and low temperatures. The industrial switches available from us offer a 5-year warranty and an MTBF (mean time without failures) of 20 years.
External switch - functions, interfaces and accessories
Industrial switches come in managed and unmanaged (plug&play) versions and have from 5 to 48 Ethernet ports with 100 Mbps or 1000 Mbps speeds. Industrial switches can be designed for transport (with EN50155 standard), fire protection (UL864 standard) or power supply (IEC 61850 standard). The housings of the best outdoor switches are made of metal and allow operation in harsh environments.
An industrial switch is often equipped with 100 Mbps or 1000 Mbps fibre optic ports. The fibre ports can be built in at the production stage or retrofitted with SFP inserts. In order to properly select the switch for fibre optics, special attention should be paid to the type of fibre optic connector grinding and the type of fibre optic (single-mode or multimode).
The external switch will most often feature a wide range of 12-48VDC power supply. Additional advantages for power supply will be 24VAC power supply and VDC power supply redundancy. Some industrial switches are also equipped with a fail-safe alarm relay.
