PADIN4 – four-channel M-Bus status module for monitoring digital contacts.

PADIN 4 is a professional four-channel M-Bus status module designed for reading and monitoring floating digital contacts via the M-Bus protocol. It enables reliable integration of alarm units, sensors and status signals into existing or newly planned M-Bus installations without the need for an external power supply.

Key product features

  • Monitoring of up to four independent digital input signals
  • Support for floating contacts (reed contacts)
  • M-Bus powered – no external power supply required
  • M-Bus protocol according to EN 1434-3
  • Automatic M-Bus baud rate detection (300 / 2400 / 9600 Bd)
  • Effective input debouncing by multiple sampling
  • Configurable parameters via M-Bus
  • DIN rail or wall mounting

Operating principle

PADIN 4 scans the state of four digital inputs connected to floating contacts. During an M-Bus master query, the input states are read, debounced by majority decision after multiple samplings, and transmitted within the M-Bus response telegram. Each input is represented by a dedicated bit, allowing clear and unambiguous status evaluation.

Configuration and security

Device parameters such as M-Bus address, identification number and medium are configured via the M-Bus using the dedicated MBCONF software. All settings are stored in non-volatile EEPROM memory and can be protected against unauthorized modification using the integrated write-protection mechanism.

Installation and mounting

The housing of PADIN 4 is suitable for DIN rail mounting according to DIN EN 50022. Alternatively, the mounting mechanism can be reconfigured for direct wall installation. Screw terminals allow easy connection of M-Bus wiring and digital input signals.

Typical applications

PADIN 4 is ideally suited for status and alarm monitoring in building automation and industrial environments. Typical applications include door and window sensors, motion detectors, gas and smoke alarms, as well as fault or status signals from electrical equipment.

PADIN 4 is a compact and efficient M-Bus status monitoring module that enables seamless integration of up to four digital contact signals into M-Bus systems. With M-Bus power supply, flexible mounting options and secure configuration, it provides a cost-effective solution for professional monitoring applications.
