PW50 – industrial M-Bus to Ethernet, USB and RS232 converter.

PW50 is an industrial M-Bus level converter designed for powering and communication with up to 50 (up to 60) M-Bus devices, such as water, heat, gas and electricity meters. The device enables direct integration of an M-Bus network with higher-level systems via Ethernet, USB or RS232, while maintaining transparent data transmission.

Integration with BMS, SCADA and PC systems

PW50 allows seamless integration of M-Bus installations with building management systems, DDC controllers and PC-based metering software. The 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface enables operation within a LAN network and the creation of a virtual serial port, allowing the use of standard M-Bus software originally designed for serial communication.

Available communication interfaces

The PW50 converter is equipped with Ethernet (RJ45), USB 2.0 and RS232 interfaces. All interfaces are available simultaneously and M-Bus data are transmitted in parallel to all ports. The device does not automatically switch between interfaces – active communication should be performed via only one interface at a time.

Galvanic isolation and M-Bus line protection

PW50 provides galvanic isolation between all communication interfaces, the M-Bus line and the power supply. The device is resistant to short circuits and overload conditions, while integrated LED indicators clearly display power status, data transmission, meter responses, bus overload and short-circuit conditions.

Mounting and power supply

PW50 is designed for DIN rail mounting (TS35). The compact 3 HP housing allows installation in control cabinets and meter panels. The device requires an external 24 VDC power supply and features low power consumption, making it suitable for continuous industrial operation.
