The HD67518 is a DMX to Modbus master Converter and it allows you to connect some DMX devices (for example a Light System...) with some Modbus slaves.

The HD67518-B2 bridges professional DMX512 lighting with industrial Modbus infrastructures so that lighting channels, scenes and fixture parameters can be supervised and coordinated by PLCs, SCADA or BMS platforms. Typical use cases include architectural façades, tunnels and public infrastructure, warehouses and production halls, arenas and venues, as well as smart commercial buildings where lighting must interact with sensors, schedules and safety logic implemented on Modbus devices.

DMX512 conveys up to 512 channel values per universe at a fixed line rate (250 kbit/s). By exposing DMX channels as Modbus registers or coils, the converter lets you read fixture status and write intensity or color parameters from a central controller. This approach enables energy-saving strategies (e.g., dimming based on occupancy), synchronized effects across zones, and unified alarming/diagnostics without replacing existing DMX fixtures. The housing type B with DIN-rail mounting simplifies installation in electrical cabinets alongside other automation equipment.

Commissioning is streamlined with the free configuration software, allowing you to set Modbus timing and addressing, define channel-to-register mapping, and choose scaling rules (for example, mapping DMX 0–255 to engineering units or percentages expected by Modbus slaves). You can also standardize update periods to balance responsiveness with bus load, and establish fail-safe behaviors so that fixtures fall back to predefined levels if upstream communication is interrupted.
