HD67412-E4V – Industrial CAN to Modbus Slave converter with metal housing and 4kV isolation

Industrial CAN to Modbus Slave converter, metal housing resistant to vibration and shock with triple 4kV isolation between CAN/Modbus Slave, CAN/power supply and Modbus Slave/power supply.

Particularly suitable for installation in cars, trucks, trains, boats, as well as in heavy-duty industrial applications where vibrations, shocks and electrical noise can compromise communication reliability.

The HD67412-E4V offers a robust solution for integrating CAN-based equipment with Modbus RTU Master systems such as PLCs, SCADA controllers or HMIs. Thanks to its rugged metal housing and triple 4kV galvanic isolation, the converter ensures stable and secure operation even in harsh environments where electrical interference is common.

Two protection variants are available:

• Suffix V – conformal coated PCB, offering dust-tight protection at IP65 level, suitable for industrial automation panels.
• Suffix R – fully resin-encapsulated version, delivering IP67 protection, high insulation and resistance to humidity and aggressive electrical noise.

These options allow integrators to choose the most suitable version depending on environmental requirements. The E4V version described here uses Mini-Fit® connectors, while Superseal 1.5 connectors are available for projects demanding automotive-grade sealing.

The converter can be mounted on any type of surface – horizontal, vertical or oblique – thanks to its four fixing lugs. In addition, it supports mounting with metal hose clamps for extra stability.

Its extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C complies with automotive standards, making it ideal for deployment in vehicles, transport systems and outdoor industrial installations.

With the free SW67412 software on your PC, you can:

• Define the CAN frames to be read or written by the converter
• Define the Modbus registers accessible by the Master in both read and write modes
• Update the device firmware

The user-friendly interface simplifies mapping of CAN frames to Modbus registers, reducing setup time and ensuring reliable data flow between systems. Engineers can quickly configure multiple registers and datapoints, allowing efficient communication between modern CAN-based devices and legacy Modbus infrastructures.
