HD67B72-A1 is an industrial protocol converter designed for bidirectional data exchange between a PROFINET network operating as Master and devices working as PROFIBUS DP Slaves (DPV0). The device is intended for integration of legacy PROFIBUS installations with modern control systems based on PROFINET, where the converter acts as an active PROFINET Master and a PROFIBUS Slave.
The converter supports the exchange of up to 244 input bytes and 244 output bytes between the PROFIBUS and PROFINET networks. Data is mapped bidirectionally and transferred cyclically, ensuring stable and reliable communication in industrial automation applications, machine systems, production lines, and infrastructure installations.
Device configuration is performed using the dedicated SW67B72 software, which allows the user to define PROFINET and PROFIBUS communication parameters, configure the list of PROFINET Slave devices, map data areas, and generate the GSD file for the PROFIBUS side. The generated GSD file is then imported into the PROFIBUS master system to ensure correct integration of the converter.
The device is equipped with 2 Ethernet RJ45 ports for PROFINET communication and 1 PROFIBUS DP port implemented as a female D-SUB9 connector. The two Ethernet ports allow flexible integration of the converter into the PROFINET network topology (e.g. line or point-to-point), without the need for an external Ethernet switch.
HD67B72-A1 features triple galvanic isolation between the power supply, the PROFIBUS interface, and the PROFINET interface, significantly increasing system immunity to electromagnetic interference and potential differences. The operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C allows the device to be used in harsh industrial environments.
The type A housing is designed for mounting on a 35 mm DIN rail. The wide power supply range of 8–24 VAC or 12–35 VDC enables easy integration into existing control cabinet power infrastructures.
