HD67E01-5-A1 is an industrial protocol converter designed to integrate EtherCAT Slave networks with devices communicating using Modbus RTU Master over RS485. The converter enables reliable and deterministic data exchange between real-time EtherCAT control systems and Modbus RTU field devices connected via an RS485 serial interface.
The device operates as an EtherCAT Slave, exposing process data directly to the EtherCAT Master, while simultaneously acting as a Modbus RTU Master on the RS485 side. This architecture allows the EtherCAT controller to cyclically read and write Modbus registers without modifying the existing field device configuration.
The HD67E01-5-A1 variant is equipped with two RJ45 Ethernet ports for EtherCAT communication, featuring an internal EtherCAT switch that enables input and output line connection within the same network segment. The Modbus RTU interface is implemented via a 3-pin 5 mm terminal block supporting RS485 communication.
Thanks to triple galvanic isolation between EtherCAT, Modbus, and power supply, the converter provides excellent protection against electromagnetic interference, ground loops, and voltage transients. This makes the device suitable for operation in electrically noisy and demanding industrial environments.
Configuration of the converter is performed using the dedicated SW67E01 software. The software allows full data mapping between EtherCAT and Modbus RTU, configuration of serial communication parameters, polling cycles, and generation of the ESI file required for EtherCAT Master setup.
