PW250 is a high-performance industrial M-Bus level converter and repeater designed for powering and communication with up to 250 M-Bus devices. The device enables transparent integration of large metering installations with building management systems, DDC controllers and PC-based M-Bus software.

Multi-interface communication and flexible system integration

PW250 is equipped with 10/100Base-T Ethernet, USB 2.0, two RS232C interfaces (D-SUB9 and terminal block) and RS485. This wide range of interfaces allows simultaneous connection of multiple supervisory systems, such as BMS, DDC controllers and service PCs. An intelligent interface management system ensures that only one interface accesses the M-Bus line at a time, preventing communication conflicts and ensuring stable operation.

M-Bus repeater functionality and network expansion

In addition to its role as a level converter, PW250 can operate as a digital M-Bus repeater, enabling network expansion when the maximum number of meters or cable length is exceeded. The repeater function allows connection of up to 250 additional M-Bus devices and supports cascading or parallel operation of multiple repeaters in large-scale installations, thanks to digital signal regeneration.

High performance and communication reliability

PW250 supports M-Bus baud rates from 300 up to 38,400 bps, making it suitable for very large and demanding metering systems. The integrated processor provides short-circuit protection, collision detection and bit-time recovery, ensuring reliable data transmission even in extended and heavily loaded M-Bus networks.

Galvanic isolation and operational safety

All communication interfaces are galvanically isolated from the M-Bus line and the power supply. The repeater input features additional isolation, increasing resistance to interference and potential differences. Clear LED indicators provide information about power status, master/slave communication, M-Bus activity, overload conditions and short-circuit events.

Mounting and power supply

PW250 features an integrated wide-range power supply (110–240 VAC), enabling worldwide use without external power adapters. The ABS enclosure with IP52 protection is suitable for wall mounting or DIN rail installation using an optional mounting kit, making the device ideal for meter cabinets and technical rooms.
