Industrial unmanaged switch
Unmanaged industrial Ethernet switch connects devices in an industrial network using Ethernet to transmit and receive data in packets between endpoints. Industrial switch is mounted on a DIN rail - a widely used standard metal rail used to mount industrial control devices. Unmanaged Ethernet switches are designed for use in demanding applications such as railways, water treatment, substation automation, roads and tunnels, as well as factory automation, IP surveillance and building automation systems (BMS).
Characteristics of unmanaged industrial switches
Unmanaged Ethernet switch is much easier to use than a managed switch. However, it does not offer the ability to configure, monitor or control managed switch. The main advantage of an unmanaged switch is the cost. Also a big advantage of the unmanaged industrial switch is that it can be immediately connected to the network. There is no need to configure anything and it has built-in QoS services to ensure it works well.
