The Modbus RTU to BACnet IP converter (Gateway) allows the integration of slave (server/slave) and master/client devices in both protocols, allowing e.g. communication of the controller or BMS with air conditioning, sensors, meters, etc.
Modbus RTU and BACnet IP are popular communication protocols in industrial automation. Modbus RTU, based on serial data transmission, is simple and reliable, ideal for data transfer between devices over short distances. It uses the RS-485 standard and is characterised by low implementation cost and ease of configuration.
BACnet IP, on the other hand, is a TCP/IP-based protocol mainly used in building management systems. It allows communication between different devices and systems over Ethernet, providing greater scalability and flexibility. BACnet IP supports a wide range of functions, such as lighting control, climate control and energy consumption monitoring. Both protocols are key to the effective integration of automation systems.

Each Modbus RTU to BACnet IP gateway available from us offers easy DIN rail mounting, immunity to electromagnetic interference and the ability to be installed in environments with a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to 85°C, allowing both installation in control cabinets with very high temperatures and outdoor boxes exposed to freezing temperatures.
Our Modbus RTU to BACnet IP converters support RS-232, RS-485 (screw connectors) and Ethernet to RJ45 type connectors. Power supply for the converters is available from 12-35VDC or 24VAC battery power. The converters, depending on the model, operate in the format Modbus slave - BACnet client (master), where the master device is on the Modbus protocol side or Modbus master - BACnet server (slave), where the master device is on the BACnet protocol side.
Thanks to the free software included with each device, the converters are very easy and quick to configure. Depending on the device model selected, the gateway may be limited by the internal memory size, which allows up to 2,000 objects to be read and written, or limited by the licence, which allows up to 3,000 points to be connected.
Selected devices are BTL certified and B-ASC and B-AAC profile compliant.
