Industrial Profibus to Profinet converters - control in industry
Industrial PROFIBUS to PROFINET converters
In this section of our shop you will find converters from the Profibus to Profinet standard.
The Profibus protocol is an older industrial communication standard based on RS-485 serial technology and is used to integrate various industrial devices such as sensors, PLCs or operator panels. It offers transmission speeds of up to 12 Mbit/s with Profibus DP.
Profinet, on the other hand, is a more modern standard based on Ethernet technology, providing real-time communication and higher data throughput. It is used for fast and reliable communication between industrial devices, supporting speeds from 100 Mbit/s (Profinet RT) to 1 Gbit/s (Profinet IRT).
Both these protocols, Profibus and Profinet, play a key role in the integration and automation of industrial processes. However, due to technological differences and speed requirements, protocol converters are often necessary. These are essential to ensure compatibility and enable interworking between devices operating on different communication standards and for efficient migration between Profibus and Profinet.
Learn more about our PROFIBUS to PROFINET converters
Each PROFIBUS to PROFINET converter in our range offers a wide 12-35VDC or 24VAC battery power supply range, easy DIN rail mounting, resistance to electromagnetic interference and the ability to be installed in outdoor boxes and environments with a wide temperature range from -40°C to 85°C. The industrial features of the converters guarantee long, trouble-free operation even in frosty conditions or very high temperatures reached by control cabinets.
Our PROFIBUS to PROFINET converters are devices that support Profibus to DB9 and Profinet to RJ45 interfaces. The converter can operate as a Profibus slave or Profibus master depending on the selected model. The gateway in Profibus slave mode allows a Profibus master device to communicate with the converter (e.g. a Siemens S7 series controller), while Profibus master mode allows the converter to communicate with a Profibus slave device (e.g. an analogue sensor).
Thanks to the free software included with each device, the converters are very easy to configure and do not require additional licences. The converters' software allows the generation and import of GSDML and XML configuration files. Selected converter models have a limited number of bytes to be written and read, up to 1500 bytes from PROFINET to PROFIBUS (IN) and up to 1500 bytes from PROFIBUS (OUT) to PROFINET.
