HD67931-B2-169MHz-40 – Industrial MBus Wireless to MQTT converter, master MBus up to 40 slaves, housing type B (wide), DIN rail mount.

The HD67931-B2-169MHz-40 is an industrial M-Bus Wireless → MQTT gateway designed to collect meter data and publish it to an MQTT server for analytics, BMS/EMS and IoT applications. Operating at 169 MHz, it supports long-range transmissions and improved penetration in complex buildings. With up to 40 M-Bus slaves, it scales from small sites to multi-tenant or campus deployments. The robust type-B housing and DIN rail mounting make it ideal for electrical panels and control cabinets.

Data can be published using MQTT topics compatible with modern IoT stacks and cloud platforms, enabling real-time monitoring, alerts and cost allocation. TLS/SSL support helps protect payloads and credentials in transit. Electrical isolation between Ethernet and M-Bus increases resilience against interference and ground loops, which is essential in industrial environments. A wide 18…35 V DC power range and -40…+85 °C temperature rating help ensure reliable operation on site.

Configuration via the free SW67931 tool is straightforward: set MQTT parameters, map M-Bus/M-Bus Wireless variables to topics and update firmware when needed. Typical uses include smart metering (water, heat, gas), tenant billing, energy dashboards and remote maintenance. The 169 MHz band and N1&N2 communication profiles are well-suited for reliable reading across basements, risers and utility rooms.

HD67931-B2-169MHz-40 allows to publish the data read from MBus meters into a MQTT Server. These gateways allow a fast and easy access to the IoT world and they are compatible with IoT Servers that support MQTT protocol. The MQTT communication can be encrypted using TLS / SSL protocols, ensuring a secure communication.

They allow to monitor MBus meters (like SIEMENS, Kamstrup, Maddalena, Sontex, etc.). Converter is easy to configure thanks to free SW67931 software.

Use cases and integration patterns:

  • Smart metering for commercial buildings and industrial plants – centralize consumption data to BMS/EMS.
  • Tenant billing and sub-metering – publish per-meter variables to MQTT topics for automated reports.
  • Condition monitoring – trigger MQTT alarms on thresholds (e.g., flow/temperature anomalies).
  • Edge-to-cloud architectures – local broker with bridge to cloud for scalable analytics.

Configuration:

Thanks to the SW67931 software on your PC you can:

  • Define the parameters of MQTT line
  • Define the parameters of MBus line
  • Define the parameters of MBus Wireless line
  • Define which MBus variables are sent to MQTT Server
  • Update the device

Configuration tips and best practices:

  • Enable TLS/SSL and manage certificates per your IT policy; use strong credentials and rotate them periodically.
  • Choose QoS and retain flags based on consumer needs (SCADA vs. dashboards).
  • Plan a clear MQTT topic tree, e.g. site/building/floor/meter/parameter, to simplify filtering and alarms.
  • Validate 169 MHz signal quality; select an appropriate SMA antenna and avoid shielding obstacles.

Characteristics:

  • Electrical isolation between Ethernet and MBus
  • Mountable on 35mm Rail DIN
