IM003G (PadPuls M2) is a professional two-channel M-Bus pulse collector designed to integrate meters equipped with floating pulse outputs or S0 interfaces into M-Bus-based metering systems. The device enables connection of up to two conventional pulse-output meters such as electricity, water, gas or heat meters, acting as two independent M-Bus slave devices.

Operating principle

IM003G counts pulses generated by connected meters and converts them into data accessible via the M-Bus protocol. Each input channel has its own primary and secondary M-Bus address, allowing independent readout of both meters. Communication complies with EN 1434-3, with automatic detection of the transmission baud rate.

Tariff mode and billing functions

The optional tariff mode allows pulses from a single meter to be accumulated into separate registers for primary and secondary tariffs. This is achieved using one pulse input and one tariff switch signal, for example from a ripple control receiver supplied by the utility. Integrated real-time clock and due-date function enable automatic storage of billing values without external software.

Data integrity and reliability

IM003G is powered directly via the M-Bus line. In the event of an M-Bus failure, an integrated battery automatically ensures continued pulse counting and data integrity. Meter readings are periodically stored in non-volatile memory, providing additional protection against data loss.

Installation and applications

The device is supplied in a wall-mounted housing and is suitable for use in building and industrial installations. IM003G is ideal for retrofit projects where existing pulse meters need to be integrated into modern M-Bus infrastructures without replacing the installed meters.
