THO – M-Bus outdoor temperature and humidity sensor, wall mounted.

THO is an M-Bus outdoor sensor for temperature and humidity, providing direct readout via an M-Bus network. Built for harsher environments, it is suitable for outdoor climate monitoring, attics, basements and other demanding locations where you need continuous air-parameter supervision within a single metering infrastructure.

Applications: outdoor monitoring and demanding locations

THO is intended for scenarios where temperature and/or humidity must be monitored outside or in spaces with challenging conditions (e.g., humid technical rooms). Sensor values can feed BMS trends, reporting and automation logic such as humidity alarms, ventilation control or anti-condensation protection.

Wall mounting and correct sensor orientation

The device is designed for direct wall mounting. To avoid measurement bias, install it away from direct sunlight and with the probe facing downward to reduce exposure to rain and dirt. This orientation improves stability in typical outdoor deployments.

M-Bus interface: 2-wire, non-polar, feed-through terminals

THO communicates using M-Bus (EN 13757) and operates as an M-Bus slave with 1 standard unit load (typical current consumption around 1.5 mA). M-Bus wiring is 2-wire and non-polar. Connection is made via screw terminals, with separate M-Bus input and output for convenient bus continuation (feed-through wiring).

Measurement ranges and accuracy (temperature & humidity)

THO operates in ambient temperatures of -40..+55°C, while the temperature measurement range is -40..+85°C. Temperature accuracy includes ±0.2°C at 10..30°C and ±1.5°C at -40..+55°C. Relative humidity is measured across 0..100% RH (non-condensing), with accuracy ±2% RH within 10..90% RH and ±4% RH within 0..100% RH.

Communication parameters and housing

The sensor supports M-Bus speeds of 300 and 2400 bps (default 2400) and is bus powered within 21–42 VDC. The housing is rated IP54 and dimensions are 100×100×52 mm, supporting reliable outdoor deployment where environmental robustness matters.

Configuration and available readouts (MBConf)

THO can be configured with the free MBConf tool (from version 3.0), including address, ID, baud rate and text messages. After configuration, available readouts include temperature (current, min, max, 1-hour average, 24-hour average and all 1-hour averages for the last 24 hours) and humidity (current, min, max).
