MR005 – compact M-Bus master for up to 3 meters.

MR005 is a compact M-Bus master (level converter) designed for remote powering and reading of up to 3 M-Bus devices, such as water meters, heat meters, electricity meters, gas meters and pulse counters. The device belongs to the Master-PW series and is intended for small and cost-effective M-Bus installations in building and industrial applications.

Applications in small M-Bus networks

MR005 is ideally suited for applications where central read-out of a small number of meters is required. Typical use cases include local metering points, compact energy monitoring systems, service and commissioning tasks, as well as test installations. The compact housing allows easy integration into control cabinets and distribution panels.

Communication interfaces

As standard, MR005 is equipped with an RS232 interface for communication with a PC or supervisory system. An optional version with a ZVEI-compliant optical interface is available, enabling convenient on-site read-out using a handheld device or optical head, without the need for a permanently connected computer.

Reliability and operational safety

The device is permanently short-circuit resistant on the M-Bus line and features overcurrent and overvoltage protection. Operating status is indicated by LED indicators showing power supply, slave communication and fault conditions, simplifying diagnostics and maintenance.

Mounting and power supply

MR005 is designed for DIN rail mounting (TS35) and can also be wall-mounted. The device supports a wide AC and DC power supply range, allowing the use of existing power supplies in control cabinets. The ABS housing provides IP20 protection.
