Characteristics of panel computers in industry

The panel computer is a combination of a rugged touchscreen and an industrial computer, guaranteeing maximum reliability in applications such as industrial process control and interactive advertising. Since industrial applications often mean working in extreme conditions, special hardware requirements are placed on products in this category, such as resistance to low and high operating temperatures, impact resistance, dust, humidity or electromagnetic interference.

What is worth paying attention to?

Panel computers come in a wide range of configurations, starting with computing power, through the type of housing or waterproof class, so before choosing the right model, consider whether our computer should:

  • have an IP64/IP65/IP66/IP67 waterproof rating
  • maintain low power consumption or high computing power
  • have additional video outputs, USB and RS-232/422/485 ports
  • maintain a resistive or capacitive touchscreen
  • have a WiFi module or 3G/4G modem
  • have the ability to work in negative temperatures
  • have a regular or wide-angle screen, depending on the application

Flat panel (flat screen)

An interesting solution for industrial applications exposed to dirt is the use of flat panel computers. These computers have a completely flat touchscreen, which, thanks to its design, prevents dust and other debris from collecting, enabling hours of maintenance-free operation.
