RS-485 Active Hub

The I-7514U is an active RS-485 hub with 4 output channels and one input channel. Each output channel is equipped with an individual controller to ensure independent operation. Data sent to the input channel is simultaneously transmitted to all four output channels. This makes it possible to send out the same information simultaneously to several devices connected to the outputs. This solution makes the RS-485 network more flexible and efficient, enabling better management of data transmission in industrial systems.

Splitter

Data from the master input is sent to all four RS-485 slave channels, making it possible to simultaneously send out information to several devices connected to these channels. In contrast, data from the slave channels is only transmitted back to the master input, meaning that communication is unidirectional from the slave channels to the master. This solution reduces the risk of interference between the individual slave channels, as each slave channel operates independently and does not affect the others. As a result, RS-485 networks become more resistant to interference and more reliable, which is crucial in industrial applications where stability and continuity of communication are of paramount importance.

Setting the baud rate

The I-7514U offers two modes for setting the baud rate: the Self-Tuner mode and the Fixed baud rate mode. The Self-Tuner mode supports different baud rates and data formats, operating in the same way as the I-7513 and I-7510. The Fixed baud rate mode provides better data transmission quality on long, damaged lines or in environments with electrical interference.

SR-485 short-circuit protection

Short-circuit protection can automatically shut down a faulty channel, providing protection for the communication system. When a connected RS-485 device fails, the faulty channel will be isolated to ensure normal operation of other devices.

Termination resistors

In some critical environments, it may be necessary to add termination resistors to prevent reflections of serial signals. The I-7514U includes a selectable 120 ohm termination resistor for each channel using a jumper (disabled by default).

LED indicators

The I-7514U has 6 LEDs to indicate power status and network traffic. The TxD / RxD LED will flash when the unit is sending or receiving data.
