Router or repeater - what to choose?
In the age of the Internet, having a reasonably fast network at home or office is almost essential. While the best router is capable of providing us with a strong signal through both wireless and wired connectivity, it may happen that using a wireless router at some point, however, becomes insufficient for us. Wanting to increase the range of our network, we should therefore start by learning the difference between a router and a device called a repeater. Let's remember that the device we have at home or in the office is responsible for our Internet coverage.
Router is a device that connects to the Internet via a cable modem, usually provided by an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Individual devices are connected to the router either wirelessly or via an Ethernet cable. Today, most electronic devices have the possibility of mobile operation, so choosing the right router is quite an important matter. A properly selected device, allowing us to use the network, allows us to use the Internet connection stably and quickly. It is worth bearing in mind that when we connect too many devices via Wi-Fi to one router, we can significantly overload it, which will make the Internet network no longer as fast as we expect.
A repeater, on the other hand, is a device that duplicates the Wi-Fi signal from the original network router, simply put, a repeater is nothing more than a Wi-Fi signal booster that mainly improves the range of a wireless network. The repeater is plugged into a standard power outlet, it picks up the signal and then repeats it in a new area to increase Wi-Fi coverage, even in hard-to-reach places. In addition, using a repeater to increase Wi-Fi coverage in a large home or office building is usually cheaper than buying a new router. It is worth remembering that a Wi-Fi signal repeater will not function properly without a properly selected router. When choosing a repeater, pay attention to the transmission speed (ideally, it should be at least 1,000 Mbps) and the bands it is capable of supporting.
Simply put, a router is a device that is used to transmit data and signal to a corresponding device. A Repeater passes this signal on, so that it can be used freely over a much larger area. It is worth remembering that a repeater, otherwise known as a repeater, will not increase the network speed of our network. To increase the maximum Internet speed, you need a new router or a new Internet package.
